BMS Computer & AV Rentals is a 2nd generation, family-owned company founded in 1979. We were always the ones who dare to change and improve and in our early days, we knew how to recognize a great opportunity.
The technology was changing at a very fast pace, but we always followed the latest trend and providing top-notch equipment to our customers. The early days saw a variety of business machines in the equipment rental world including electric typewriters and early word processors. As early adopters, we offered our clients the very best business computing available. The 80s ushered us into the 386 processor and dot-matrix printing. The early 90s brought in the 486 processors, affordable laser printers, and eventually, you had an option to upgrade to a color CRT monitor.
New Age, New Changes for Our Company
The mid-90s saw the rise of a couple key items. Not only was the first Pentium 586 series, computer readily available but, it also ushered in our Audio Visual department. Slide projectors, overhead projectors, and the first VGA (640X480) resolution projectors may have been all the rage at this time but the biggest addition to the company dawned the 2nd generation to join the family workforce. Along with the new blood came the ambition to grow the company into a national presence. Promoting and supporting trade shows and corporate events across the country were the new direction.
The 2000s saw the company grow by leaps and bounds. Enter the digital age of the computer and AV world. Laptops replace desktops. Tablets and smartphones replace laptops. HD displays and projection. By 2006 it was time for the 2nd generation of the family to take over the business. The world of the equipment rental has changed drastically – and so is our management. Under this new management, the company expanded once again, by adding a full-service sales and leasing arm to the current arsenal of corporate and trade show technology services offered.
